Site Specific

A significant part of Badorrek’s practice has been making bespoke theatre and site-specific performances for audiences in public spaces for events and festivals. These collaborations have frequently been collaborations with the City of Sydney and included work for the Primo Italian Festival (during which she got married in 2009), Live Green, Martin Place Festival, Sydney Christmas and Art and About.

For several years she was the Director and Curator of Darlinghurst Community Street Festival, Nassfest. This free community event attracted hundreds of people and featured performances, exhibitions and competitions including competitive baking, fashions on the field and the Occasional Darlinghurst Dog Show.

Created for the 2024 Vivid Festival, Window Dressing was a site-specific performance installation staged in the windows of the Frank Gehry building at the University of Technology Sydney. The work invited audiences to engage in their own way with the imagined lives within the eight windows of the four ‘apartments’. Set to a carefully curated score featuring cocktail lounge music, silent film score, tangoes and Shostakovich’s unsettling Piano Trio No 2, Window Dressing cast the audience in the role of both voyeur and narrator – creating their own stories about the eight performers and their connections.
